CFA – Pyrga Community Council agreement for the use of the Community Stadium by the National Teams

Tuesday, 10 March 2026

A significant development for the Cyprus Football Association was the agreement signed on Monday between the CFA and the Pyrga Community Council, granting the Association the right to use the community stadium to serve the needs of our National Teams.

The agreement was signed by the CFA President, Haris Loizides, and the President of the Pyrga Community Council, Stavroulla Vasileiou. Also present on behalf of the CFA were Vice President and Chairman of the National Teams Committee Fotis Fotiou, Deputy General Director Andreas Morias, and Assistant Director of the National Teams Department Christodoulos Thoma.

Securing the use of the stadium in Pyrga is tangible proof of the Cyprus Football Association’s efforts to improve the training conditions of our National Teams, an element that will significantly support their development both at a team and individual level.

It is also important that the National Teams will now have a permanent base for most of their training sessions. Once the upgrade works are completed, the stadium will also be able to host friendly matches for our youth national teams.

The agreement is for a four-year period, and the CFA will proceed with upgrading the stadium and its facilities in cooperation with the Pyrga Community Council.

Among other improvements, the CFA will cover the cost of upgrading the dressing rooms, the education room, public restroom areas, and the creation of a medical room.

Under the agreement, the Pyrga Community Council undertakes the responsibility, within the next six months, to upgrade the stadium lighting and adjust the dimensions of the pitch in accordance with FIFA specifications.

The Pyrga Community Stadium also offers an important geographical advantage, as it is located at a particularly strategic point on the island. Its location makes it easily accessible for the needs of the National Teams, facilitating the movement of players and technical staff from various parts of Cyprus.

At the same time, its proximity to Kornos, where the CFA’s National Teams Sports Centre will be built, further strengthens its strategic importance, as it can operate in a complementary and supportive role to the Federation’s future facilities.

The Cyprus Football Association wishes to thank the Pyrga Community Council for the spirit of cooperation shown throughout the discussions that led to the agreement and expresses confidence that the implementation of the agreement for the use of the community stadium will be mutually beneficial.
